Conn 1930 ‘New Wonder II – “Chu Berry”‘ Eb Alto, Gold #234k

REDUCED $2,599.00! - was $3,249.00 - Custom Rebuild with Brown Chocolate Kangaroo Pads, and Gold plated (over silver) custom over-oversized Resotech resos (Flat, with matte spun finish). ***THIS IS A LOUD ALTO SAX!*** Ser.# m234,xxx dates to 1930. Excellent condition "Chu" with nailfile G#, rolled tone holes, tuning neck, Goldwash bell, everything we love. Original gold plate and Satin gold highlights model, in very nice overall condition. Now, if you've never played a Chu, they are stunningly powerful altos...big fat sound top to bottom. Ergos are not that great, but I know a lot of players that play them in spite of the 20's design and would never switch to a Selmer. I will repad it, with a Conn-style, french standard repad. Pairing an original old Conn case to go with it.

Olds 1940s ‘Super’ Eb Alto, Silver #1,31x (Archived)

SOLD - (WWS Rebuild + Sound File!) The rare OLDs Super... These are strongly linked to Martins - think: Committee 1 & 2 blended.
We had a special rebuild/restoration planned for this one. We were planning to help the dings in the body, spot silver plate some of the wear and help it get new pads. The horn is owned by my apprentice, Sean, and he'll be putting new pads, corks, and oils throughout. This is a fun one that I'm happy to help with some of the improvements also; we will bring this one back to a respectable look, playability and you'll get to enjoy it for years to come.
CASE: A vintage wood case, from the HA Selmer bundy (JK) era.
REBUILD: WWS Standard: Prestini Tan pads, Resos at 60%+ (flat nickel with rivet), natural cork throughout, plus extra love for OLDS keywork. Ask me about special gold plating on the engraving or other ideas that we are considering.

2016 added research (to be continued): Prior to growing internet knowledge, Sarge used his collection and experience to help with the history and profiles on saxes. This horn needs an update to documentation: The CA company employed a former Martin employee. Thus the strong link in design from Martin. Was is made by Martin?-No; but you can clearly see the direct similarities.

It was originally bought by a clarinet player: "The sax has about 10 hours of playing time on it, and has lived in the closet." He and I agree; it's time to find the next musician to love this instrument. There's not much to say about these saxes; they sell themselves. It comes with a Selmer C* rubber mouthpiece and two necks, curved and straight.

King 1945 ‘Zephyr’ Eb Alto, #281k

SOLD - Deep, dark original lacquer finish at 90%, triple neckstrap ring. Matching serial number 281k on the neck and body. These Kings have nickel tubing too. There are some pings on the back bow, a ding in the neck (I think I can remove), and 2 small dents in the bell lip that I can work on also. Overall the sax is in good shape with no major damage to report. The engraving is very crisp so the lacquer coloration can be attributed to the variations that King had at this time (I've even seen original Super 20s with this look).
I love Kings; and these models surely hold their own for those with a good ear.
