1923
GOLD Buescher
TruTone Alto:
(On Consignment "As is"--could benefit from minor sax tech
work) Excellent condition Satin GOLD plated body and polished Gold keys is
about 99% intact. Was rebuilt by a famous Hollywood repair man in the late
1990s but sat in the closet ever since. It has snap-in resos and
comes with original case in good condition. These have great 'old', woody
tone but are tougher than later Aristos on intonation. Considering how
beautiful the Gold is, we will sell her for: 1325.00

1938
Silver Buescher
"The Buescher" Aristocrat Alto: Rare
Silver version of the
Aristo. Think Johnny Hodges tone, very dark. Serial # 280, xxx, built about
1938. Snap in pads and resos are still there as
well as the norton springs. Original Silver finish is excellent, maybe
+99%. Just
a little brass showing on the D palm key and some body tubes. Satin body with
shiny keys and engraving area. Also has the preferred #01 neck and a goldwash
bell.. No major damage EVER done to it. I will do a complete
rebuild/repad with metal backed buescher
style pads and snap the reso's back in. It comes in an original case that's in fair
condition. 1999.00.

1947 Silver Buescher Aristocrat
"BIG B" Alto: Rare
Silver version of the Aristo. Think Johnny Hodges tone. Serial #
314,xxx, built about 1947. Snap in pads and resos are still there as
well as the norton springs. Original Silver finish is excellent, maybe
90+%. No major damage ever
done to it. There are a few keys and cups that the silver has worn off,
i'm thinking about replating those... but will do whatever the buyer
prefers. I will do a complete rebuild/repad with metal backed buescher
style pads and snap the reso's back in. It's in a Conn case that's in fair
condition. SOLD

1952 Buescher Aristocrat Alto:
Original lacquer is great, maybe 88%. Serial number
345k, i really like this model. This is the transitional link, between the aristocrat and the
buescher 400, they play bigger than a Big B, due to the change from the
parabolic, to the exponential bore, but retain the sweetness of the earlier
model. All the original snap in system is intact, so I plan to do a complete Buescher style rebuild and it will go
for 1499.00

New / After pictures:
1951 Buescher Aristocrat Alto: Serial number
334k, I really like this model. This is the transitional link, between the aristocrat and the
buescher 400, they play bigger than a Big B, due to the change from the
parabolic, to the exponential bore, but retain the sweetness of the earlier
model. This one's original finish isn't too pretty, and is only about
65%. The neck had some pull down, which i repaired before the photos and i
will remove a couple small dents in the bow area. All the original snap in system is intact, so I plan to do a complete Buescher style rebuild and it will go
for 1399.00

Buescher "Elkhart"
Alto: Rare
early Buescher that has traits of both the Trutone and Aristo, with the small bell for a more focused, sweeter
sound. Think Johnny Hodges tone. Nice engraving of an Elk on
the bell. Pro features at a intermediate/step-up horn price. We just
finished a French Standard rebuild on her and that is included in the price of
799.00.

1972 Buffet Super
Dynaction Alto Sax. These compare very favorably to the famed
Selmer Mark VI, usually ranked #2. Known for its rich tone and smooth
action it is a well designed, heavy horn keeps it's adjustment well and is very
reliable. The serial number is 18,8xx, which means it was made in 1972.
Original Lacquer is about 85% although there are some scratches (see pics). the
70's models had a little more edge and some folks prefer them. Included is
the original hard case which is still in solid shape.
I will do a "French
Standard" rebuild, but substitute large flat metal reso's, for the
selmer style plastic ones. 2059.00

Vintage B&S "Blue Label"
alto: German
made alto, from the
same company who manufactured the 1st Dave Guardala line of horns, and the Allora
and Medusa horns, as well as their own line. The lacquer on
it is 99%; the keys are nickel plated. This is
definitely an East German horn: stamped "made in GDR" on the back, so
it would have been manufactured before 1989. This neck is triple gold
plated, looks great. I must say, this is a great sounding alto, German
horns are dark and complex sounding. It has many cool Pro features, like a
high F# key, ribbed stacks and palm keys for added strength, adjustable
thumbrest, 3 position neckstrap hook... more. The case (I'm not sure if it is original or not) is
in good condition and sturdy. 1299.00

Conn
GOLD
Plated "CHU"
Alto: On
Consignment, ser # M 184,xxx, a 1920s model. This baby is a Gold plate
that had also been lightly lacquered at one time (this was very popular in the
40's, to reduce tarnish), that 40's lacquer, is mostly gone now...but
the gold remains, almost 96% original gold. Neck and body look great. Excellent "Chu" with nailfile G#, rolled
tone holes, tuning neck, everything we love. Original Gold plate model,
in excellent overall condition,
comes with a nice new case, just a very few small solder repairs that are almost unnoticeable.
Just rebuilt with tan music medic pads and flat
metal resos, natural cork throughout, and new springs. These Gold Plated
Chu's are rare and have such a huge sound. I have tweaked this one,
it's beautiful and really blows. This one is ready to go. 1599.00

Silver Conn "CHU"
Alto:
Ser.#
m148,xxx. Excellent "Chu" with nailfile G#, rolled tone
holes, tuning neck, Goldwash bell, everything we love. Original Silver
plate and Satin Silver highlights model, in very nice overall condition. Now, if you've never played a
Chu, they are stunningly powerful altos...big fat sound top to bottom.
Ergos are not that great, but i know a lot of players that play them in spite of
the 20's design and would never switch to a Selmer. I will repad it,
with a Conn-style, french standard repad (aka, a vintage rebuild, a 899.00
rebuild). 1399.00

Conn
Tranny "CHU" Alto:
Ser # 244,xxx, a 1931 model. Excellent "Chu" with
Art Deco engraving, nailfile G#, rolled
tone holes, tuning neck, everything we love. It has been very nicely
relacquered and looks nice and vintage (see pics). I will repad it, with a Conn-style,
standard repad
(aka, a vintage rebuild). 1299.00

Conn
"Tranny Era" Alto:
Ser #262,xxx, a 1935 model. Excellent end of
the Tranny
era 6M with Naked lady engraving, 6m style G# cluster, rolled
tone holes, New York neck (no problematic
micro-tuner), adjustable RH thumb hook, everything we love. It has been
very nicely
relacquered and looks nice and vintage (see pics). It was just repadded in early '09
elsewhere (pads look great), with a selmer-style,
standard repad. 1599.00. Ready to blow....

1947 Conn 6m Alto:
Naked Lady, Ser # 322,xxx in good overall shape with Original lacquer. It
features Rolled Tone Holes, fine tuning neck adjuster... This one has a nice big
sound and has the characteristic Conn edge.
I will do a "French
Standard" rebuild, but substitute large flat metal reso's, for the
selmer style plastic ones (aka, a vintage rebuild). 1699.00

1948 Conn 6m Alto:
(Consignment from Chadd) Naked Lady, Serial #327,5xx in good overall shape with Original
lacquer at about 60%. It does not have Rolled Tone Holes, but
does have the fine tuning neck adjuster, also one roller in the pinky cluster is
not original. We'll see if there's a better match here at the shop. This one
will also have a nice big
sound and has the characteristic Conn edge.
Chadd will do a Vintage rebuild
with natural cork throughout, add some quieting Premium extras & Saxgourmet
Black Kangaroo Skin Pads and put large flat metal reso's. 1699.00

Couf Superba One Alto, By J. Keilwerth: S# 91xxx, made
sometime between 1965 and 1968, nice
early Superba 1, these are noted for a very big, warm sound, that is full of
harmonics and body. The serial number on the neck matches the body.
i
really like the older ones, they are tone machines. Made about 1968,
the early models are rare, especially in nice condition... and finish is
very good, perhaps 70%, with the usual wear and scratching. Body is very
straight, no dings or dents. Below the thumb rest is stamped "MADE
IN WEST GERMANY EXCLUSIVELY FOR W.T. ARMSTRONG COMPANY BY JULIUS KEILWERTH
MUSICAL INSTRUMENT FACTORY"
It has been completely repadded (elsewhere) with premium pads and smooth, domed
stainless steel resonators (like the originals). It comes with the
original case with average wear(some reglued stitching), but is completely functional. 1999.00
Ready to blow....Really plays great!

Dolnet Series II Silver Plated Alto Saxophone: 1940's
Vintage, S/N 24,xxx Here's a great vintage alto all original silver
plate. This alto comes from the mid 1940's. Dolnet is a great French
made saxophone in production since the 1880's. I haven't had one in here for a
couple years, these 40's models are nice heavy horns, stronger metal than
the Bel air model, with a big Conn type sound, that is warm and fat.
I will do a "French
Standard" rebuild, but substitute large flat metal reso's, for the
selmer style plastic ones (aka, a vintage rebuild) and that is included in our
price of 1249.00

1960
"The New King"
Julius
Keilwerth:
This
is an older (and the coolest) S# 38k, with the "winged" keyguard.
The original Lucite plastic one was broken, but i had a Keilwerth metal
replacement guard, which I 24carat
gold plated to match the
sax, it looks great. This model has a
darker tone, with good projection, it can shine on ballads or be bop, with the
right mouthpiece. Original lacquer, but not much left, maybe 50% counting the
lacquer
under the keys... maybe the loss of lacquer is why this one has such a beautiful
tone. 1499.00.

Julius Keilwerth
"New King" Alto: by my own chart, i figure this one
to be a 1934-5 model--nickel plated. It very unique and cleverly designed, somewhat
like a Conn 6m, but with ergonomic improvements. The side keys are
similar to a martin committee design, with the two piece mechanism, but the touch pads
are oval and angled to hit your index finger's side perfectly. The G# table
is like a 6m, but the G# key is a pearl that has had a "fingernail
file" cut into it. German
horns are dark and complex sounding. I just did a "French
Standard" rebuild, but substitute large flat metal reso's, for the
selmer style plastic ones (aka, a vintage rebuild). 1699.00 Just Finished--
and very impressed with the booming low-end & darkness to the entire sound.

strong saxes, nice feeling keywork. 80% Original nickel silver
plate. Opposed bell keys, Front hi F key, G# trill Eb trill, S#
60,7xx low pitch. Really bad old pads actually played nicely in tune from
low C to high F (couldn't get any lower on these pads). 999.00 Sale

1935-7
King Zephyr Alto: Late 1930's
King Zephyr alto was kings pro line at that time. Lacquer is original but
spotty (not that pretty) with brown and clay colors, at about 60% coverage.
These are very strong horns with a medium bright sound, but flexible with
different mouthpieces. Serial is # 173,xxx, really nice engraving.
It has had our Complete
repad with Selmer Style plastic resonators, keywork is nice and tight, no play.
We removed a couple dents from the bow and a slight push at the thumbrest and
bell to body tube support, otherwise this one was in really excellent overall
physical condition. Original case included, in fair shape.

1952-3
King Zephyr Alto: Early 1950's
King Zephyr alto was kings standard at that time, so similar in design and body
that it is affectionately known as the poor mans Super
20. Lacquer is
original but
spotty and has many fine scratches, with a nice brown patina on the bell
engravings area and neck, at about 60-70% coverage.
These are very strong horns with a medium (not too dark / not too bright) sound, but flexible with
different mouthpieces. Serial is # 328,xxx, nice engraving... it has
several small dents we will burnish out. It will get our Complete
standard Vintage repad, keywork is nice and tight, no play. 1399.00

King Super 20 Alto Saxophone:
Serial #411,xxx indicates a
1965
manufacture, in
Cleveland, Ohio (not Eastlake).
Brass bell, Sterling
Silver neck, with
nickel keys / rods and brass key cups. These magnificent horns are well known
for the huge sound and power that they bring to an ensemble, and the horns from
this vintage are regarded by most as the finest saxes ever made. This
particular instrument is in very good condition. Lacquer is original, and about
85% present, looks very nice, vintage. There are a few dents here and there I will do my
best to remove, but the pads and action feel very tight and this horn plays well.

Martin
Committee 1 alto: S# 122xxx on both the body and neck that
dates it to appx 1938. Famous for Solid Nickel
keywork, soldered on toneholes, heavy walled body, big warm tone.
This is a very well done relacquer, with the engravings still looking good, as
seen in the pics. It has the Eagle with star and Skyline with searchlights
engraving and adjustable thumb rest. There are no major dents just a few small
ones that i will remove, when i do a complete "Vintage style" rebuild
on her (included in the price) 1199.00

1940
Martin
Handcraft Committee II Alto: Serial number 140,0xx. Original lacquer 80%.
Beautiful vertical Martin engraving on entire bell and standing lion engraving
too. There is one small resolder mark at the low C# post. There is a very minimum
amount of dings or evidence of previous ding removal, we will burnish any we find and
make it look great. The pads are shot but we got a nice sound out of the middle
notes. It is a very nice playing saxophone, so i have
just done a complete rebuild, with our "Vintage Standard" set up, Prestini NS
tan lambskin pads and flat metal reso's. Original case is just fair, but usable. 1699.00 Just

Handcraft Committee II Alto: (On Consignment from Chadd) Serial number

Beautiful vertical Martin engraving on entire bell and standing "lion &

too. There are a few smaller dings in the bow, we will burnish any we find and

sounding horns. so chadd will do a complete rebuild, with our "Vintage Standard" set up, Prestini NS

The Martin Alto: serial
#166xxx. One of the worlds best sounding altos. The sax is in good
shape with no significant dings or dents. There is some very light pitting
on the bell section, back of the body, and keys. The keys and rods all
seem to be working properly. The pads appear to be in decent shape.
Matching serial number on the neck. The original lacquer has the
martin fabrication sticker near the bow! Comes with a nice vintage black

good we can't be sure if it's original or redone.
The serial number is 26,xxx so appx. 1970 model. All the Marigaux's
have the Selmer style straight tone holes, this one also has some adjusting
screws and some of the 23 features, it also has a High F#
