WorldwideSax.com is a Vintage Saxophone repair shop that also buys, completely rebuilds and resells Vintage Professional Saxophones. I also do Rebuilds and Restorations for customers from all over the world.

WWS is a by appointment only specialist, not a "music store". Customers can see and hear what is available on this website.

NOTICE: You are viewing the old WWS website.

(Inventory is out of date. In your http address, you'll see "old" for these

WWS archives. We wanted to keep this live for saxophone research.)

If  a horns says "just rebuilt", then it's ready to go, saxes that say "scheduled for a rebuild" are waiting for the work to be done, but it will be included in the posted price.  If a sax says "ON TRIAL" someone is taking advantage of the "Three Day Trial" policy (See Info and Orders page).

(Consignment Sax - Plays Excellent)   Serial #205k, the first good era with roller G#. In great condition, and a little tarnish to wipe off (it will shine great!).  Silver is 90% intact, the bell is silver inside, not goldwash. Some wear inside the bell down to brass. I'm not sure if it was gold and was rubbed out over time--my gut says silver since the beginning. It has the earlier-era engraving, with a crisp "Buescher" on the bell.  Neck is # "1". This model has a great tubby-warmth to the sound --Sigard Rascher made this one famous! They have a tone that is uniquely 'Buescher' for early vintage saxes--very woody--but intonation was not perfected well on these 1920s horns; having a proper mouthpiece will help! (A larger chamber will be recommended.)  It has the original wood case in "Good/ok" shape. Currently we are treating the case with some anti-odor methods. Please check in with me on this topic. I believe we'll be able to make it work well for you.  This sax was rebuilt with tan pads and plastic resos (no snaps present) by a very reputable Northwest WA sax repairman. The work was done 10yrs ago and the sax was barely played during that first year. It has been in its case since.

This is a very good player!  325xxx... no snaps (negative to a collector--does not hurt the playing) but great pads with plastic resos, Original finish (some might argue this by looking at the engraving. It is my opinion that the bell was worn with hands and re-buffed--see how the edges are still deeply cut; this verifies more original). CASE: TBD--I'll find a nice upgrade to go with it. This one will get fully tuned up to play even better, smoother, oiled and you're going to make your band-mates jealous! All included for the Tuned-up price of:

(On Consignment-Plays well. ) It does play all the way down to low Bb. These compare very favorably to the famed Selmer Mark VI, usually ranked #2.  Known for its rich tone and smooth action it is a well-designed heavy horn; it holds its adjustment well and is very reliable.  The serial number is 17,3xx, which means it was made in 1972. Original Lacquer is about 95% although there are some scratches (see pics, past dent repairs above neckstrap ring and bell lip. both look great now.) these are always a great value for the money. Included is a great SKB molded, hard case OR... original Buffet hard case in good solid shape--but we would need to plan with the owner to have it delivered. It was rebuilt elsewhere with minimal use with a  "French Standard" rebuild that has selmer-style, plastic resos.

These are great lookers and I'm always compelled to make it as pretty as I can.   Ser # 244,xxx, a 1931 model.  Another Great "Chu" with  Art Deco engraving,  nailfile G#, rolled tone holes, tuning neck, everything we love.  It has been very nicely relacquered and looks nice and vintage (see pics).  I repaded it, with a Conn-style, standard repad (aka, a vintage rebuild). Sarge decided to send it off to Sherry Huntley and have it re-engraved to make this Deco-style bell really pop out (also secretly adding Silver on the engraving for blend/pop).  Classic vintage Conn hard case included.

1932 CONN 6M - TRUE Transitional - NICKEL Alto:

Serial #249,xxx... ULTRA RARE example in original Nickel plating!  93% intact!   ("Finish model #61" via Saxpics.com)  ***think about it, "silver" look without the tarnish to clean!*** This is an early transitional model, and true example at that with flat-Chu G#, neck tuner, even the Eb trill key like the Chu!...  The sax is in great condition, and will need a full rebuild to enjoy! We will do that for the price included, AND remove all the red brass you can see on the edge touches.  Currently paired with a vintage hard case in good, usable shape. it doesn't look like a vintage Conn case, but you never know with a "transitional".

Naked Lady Transitional era: Serial #251,xxx. These have a cult following as the first of the Naked Lady run. Body is in great overall shape. other than the evidence of mess pad glue, there is no past repairs or damage to mention. What a beauty! It has the very rare original, satin/shiny gold finish at 60%...and lots of silver under-plating is visible. (I believe this is a rare perma-gold example, not gold plated). The neck is mostly silver only now. It has Rolled Tone Holes and the fine tuning neck adjuster.  It arrived in the original wood case that is in good condition and functional shape--double-pack case for [metal?] clarinet.  It will get a Vintage Conn Rebuild with flat metal resos on Prestini pads and natural cork throughout.

1944 King "Zephyr Special" Alto: Serial number 273k on the neck and body,  I really like this model. KingZephyrspecial273k_teaser.jpg (1017256 bytes)Original lacquer finish at 95%, Full Pearls in great shape, triple neckstrap ring, and Silver Neck model! These are a transitional link between the Zephyr-Super20 era (super 20s starting around #272K). These have many zephyr traits but also some traits that are unique to only the Special model. This ser# is late in the run of production and they started doing less key engravings on this model (affecting the keys only). I've seen some with all 5 low keys, some with 4, some 3. This one is at the end of that shift and they must have cut that out completely or switched the workers over to the Super 20 production line (they got the key "starbursts").  Here's what Saxpics.com has to add:

Tying this all together, the best Zephyrs are Zephyr Specials and the horns produced between 240xxx and 305xxx that have the rounded keywork, double-socket neck and three-ring-straphook. I've seen some outrageously priced very, very early Zephyrs. These horns have very similar intonation tendencies to the Voll True II (i.e. not good) and should be valued slightly more than that model. I can also assume that the horns produced after 383xxx should be considered intermediate quality horns and valued as such, due to all the changes from the "pro" model Zephyr. However, it also seems likely that the Zephyrs produced between 305xxx and the time that the double-socket neck was discontinued (about 383xxx) have the same bore as the "good" Zephyrs, but may be more machine-made, lack some features and/or have a slightly different body composition -- so, a good buy for the more budget-minded.

It arrived with a mix of pads, some on the lower stack were the originals! COOL! I love seeing that. Also it arrived without a case. I will find a great one since this sax deserves it and update the listing when I know more. Price would include ordering a very nice Protec case of your choice. Unless ordered to your custom setup, it will receive a complete rebuild with our "Vintage Standard" set up, Prestini NS tan lambskin pads and flat metal reso's all included for:

1952 King Zephyr Alto:

KingZephyr322k_001.jpg (635350 bytes)   Early 1950's King Zephyr alto, ser#322k dates it to approx 1952, was King's standard at that time, so similar in design and body that it is affectionately known as the poor man's Super 20.  Lacquer is original but spotty and has many fine scratches, with a nice brown patina on the bell engravings area and neck, at about 60-70% coverage.  These are very strong horns with a medium (not too dark / not too bright) sound, but flexible with different mouthpieces. Comes in vintage case. Currently missing a key guard and the neck screw...I have exact replacements.  It will get a complete rebuild with our "Vintage Standard" set up, Prestini NS tan lambskin pads and flat metal reso's.

It arrived in original pads, corks, and brown felts that prove such. (2 pads were changed). #190k dates it to 1954, player/collector's delight, Finish: Gorgeous Original Lacquer. Sticker is intact on the rear tube. It is original lacquer although there are a few runs in the lacquer from the factory. Perhaps there was a new worker that day in 1954. I noticed 1 ding near low C, a minor 'dent' on the backside too. All of this is being picky because the rest of the sax is so pretty!

CASE: Original, orange, Martin case in excellent shape to match.

1940s Selmer PADLESS Alto:

SelmerPadlessAlto-27475_001.JPG (1812241 bytes) #27,475, numbering only 1000-2000 ever made, COLLECTOR HORN. It will need a special restoration (custom rings to design and replace) to get it fully up to speed. Finish is, what I believe, a very good relacquer. Many of this model had 'less than quality' lacquer in the era. Who knows if it was due to the collaboration efforts in design--Notice that it looks much like H.A.Selmer models and, according to Mark O's research: "Buescher" too. "This project was a collaboration between H. & A. Selmer and the Buescher Musical Instrument Company. It was a similar to the arrangement that H. & A. Selmer had with Selmer Paris, except in this instance, H. & A. Selmer was responsible for the design. Accordingly, the research, design, and patent expenses, as well as full assembly and quality control were all Selmer. However, the actual manufacturing of parts (body tube, bow, bell, neck, rods, key work, etc…) was all done by Buescher. Selmer designed and installed the “Tonex” tone rings. Selmer was also responsible for all marketing and distribution.

Comes with original case (So Cool!) that does have an odor that will have to be treated also.

ser# 824,xxx. PROFESSIONAL Selmer from the 1980s. Rare Silver plate in 97% condition. These are one of the best kept secrets in the sax world.--pro sax, "selmer", with all the ergos and tone you're after. Most people mistake the "USA" on the bell for the later student-line. Do not be fooled! She arrived with a few missing screws (I will replace with silver ones to match!) Future Rebuild: The specifics are yet to be decided. I would love to plan a Full Rebuild on this one with special pads and/or resonators. I'll shine up all the silver, and help her sing the doors down! Comes with a great Selmer hard case (like the Series I, II, III have) without the leather wrap, although the handles were repaired. Ask me about those.

Cosmetic Rating: 9.0

ser# 9,024,xxx. Intermediate Selmer from the recent years. Rare Silver plate in 97% condition. Model SAS-280RS. It arrived we'll played, yet still playing very strong. I was very impressed with the action and feel and I would say that this could keep up with some pro saxes! 1) it's a "selmer", with all the ergos and tone you're after. I would label the tone as "bold, focused, slightly brighter than Vintage tone, yet, very responsive and firm".  The bell is "traditional-sized bell" for the clean, focused sound. (I found the bell curve to be very interesting--flares to the right).  Comes with the original Selmer hard case/backpack-type with the "la voix" on it.

---We just finished a full disassembly, silver dip cleaning, chemical cleaning, and replaced the main palm key pads and Eb for longevity and easy maintenance!  All shined up and helped her sing the doors down!

Cosmetic Rating: 9.0

This sax is a super cool sax! I actually really like the tone. It must be reminiscent of my ol' Series II selmer.
