If you wish to schedule a rebuild, or purchase one of the saxes (and it still needs to be rebuilt),  send me a 50% deposit to hold your place in the work schedule.  I work from a published schedule (see left margin) so that your sax will only be out of your possession a couple weeks, while i do the actual work, it does not have to just sit on the shop floor, until its turn comes up... you send it to arrive on schedule and we return it on schedule.

  If  a horns says "just rebuilt", then it's ready to go, saxes that say "scheduled for a rebuild" are waiting for the work to be done, but it will be included in the posted price.  If a sax says "ON TRIAL" someone is taking advantage of the "Three Day Trial" policy (See Info and Orders page).

Keilwerth made The New King and Tone King  as their main brand names, from 1932 to 1969 or so, but there were always stencils, like Edgeware and later Couf.  Here are few of the other names you may find on Keilwerth made horns.  The New King and Tone King saxes were identical except for a high F# key on the tone king model, but keilwerth marketed the Tone King as the "deluxe" Pro model and the New King as the "standard" Pro model

If you wish to schedule a rebuild, or purchase one of our saxes (and it still needs to be rebuilt),  send us  a 50% deposit to hold your place in my work schedule.  We work from a published schedule (see left margin) so that your sax will only be out of your possession a couple weeks, while i do the actual work, it does not have to just sit on the shop floor, until it's turn comes up... you send it to arrive on schedule and we return it on schedule.

For our "French Standard" rebuilds, we use the 0.160"-0.185" thick Hermes NS premium standard series sheepskin pads w/plastic dome reso's, natural cork throughout and French amber shellac to install the pads.  My "French Standard" rebuild is patterned after Selmer and Buffet rebuilds, using the best of techniques from both.

Sorry, we prefer not to sell our WWS stock horns in "as is" condition.  If we get it and it's not "near new", we will automatically completely rebuild it, in time.  Also, do to the busy schedule we keep, we don't have time to do P/C work ( that is... pad repairs on your horns, we always squeeze in time to keep WWS horns in great shape for our previous customers)  It's a small 2 man shop and we are always super busy.

Details: They have a firmer felt backing than our Prestini NS pad and therefore have a bit more noise during closing. This also adds a harder surface for sound projection--if you're splitting hairs in an argument. Kangaroo leather is regarded as stronger and longer lasting by comparison to other pad leather. They have fine grains and are a very smooth leather.  There's also a buzz about it's natural non-stick properties.

We also feature a Vintage Standard rebuild, which is essentially the same as the French Standard, but a change on Resos--vintage style flat metal reso's, with a rivet in the center.  It's the same price as our "Standard".  Flat metal reso's came stock from the factory on Buffets, Kings, Martins and Conns at one time or another in the history of these companies.  it's actually Sarge's favorite/recommended choice for any American horn.

Total spring replacement, with Krause stainless steel springs,  the very best made.  With total rebuild, add 210.00.  If sax is assembled, it must be disassembled and reassembled, so then it's 362.00 (over 3 hours labor and springs).   Each spring is cut to size, the end hand flattened to fit the existing hole and tensioned to your specs...and sometimes custom sharpened to fit different sax models.

Dent removal,  Neck resizing, Swedging, deburring, cre-reaming, chemical lacquer removal, soft and hard silver soldering, custom resonators installed, etc. is all available at 60.00 per hour.  Fabricating  and custom work, is all available at 90.00 per hour.

 

Chemical Stripping: Most jobs really depend on the condition of the sax and are small enough to follow the hourly rate above.  A non-epoxy lacquer will usually cost about: $175 for soprano, $200.00 for alto, $285.00 for tenor, $410 for Baritone.  (The epoxy ones are tough and take about 4 applications--add extra time by the hour. Talk about work!)

Acid+ Treatment: This is one way to sterilize the entire sax from "green growth" and/or the "Red Brass Rust" that will form on bare brass. This is most common with finishes in Lacquer or Nickel. I would say that 75% of vintage saxes don't need this step, 10% REALLY NEED this, and the rest are really a matter of preference. In the photo related to this, I would say the sax was in the 15% that was up to the owner's preference (but my preference was into the "10% Gross" group purely for cosmetic reasons).

     ~Basic Acid Bath: $85.00

     ~Acid+ Treatment: $85.00 + 60.00 (this usually involves handling every key by hand along the 3 step process)

	Lacquer Preservation (during rebuild) - The secret to preserving your lacquer! Photo (left) is a Selmer that received this! Now granted, it was pretty before we started, but I noticed that lost luster came back to the shine. Photo left-left, is a Martin Committee III alto that also came back to life. 	Runyon Product Risers: Palm Key Risers or Side Key Risers. These are $14.00 a set--3 in the Palm Set, 4 in the Side Set I don't currently sell these as a single sale but will do my best to help customers add them to any saxophone purchase. DO NOT PUT ON SILVER SAXES! Rubber eats silver!

SCRIPT ENHANCEMENT - Black or Gold or (white etc...ask about a custom): GOLD: Gold is what Bob uses on all his signature pieces, Selmer touches and many others that want to add some flare to the logos. Black on Chadd's Tonalin. (Before & After), the white plastic white doesn't bond as well, but it can help some.

REPAIRS - Facing, Tip, Tooth Grooves, customization: Inspection, Corrosion Treatment, & Minor enhancements: $30.00 Refacing: Please email for advising between Chadd or Bob Carpenter's work orders and pricing. (Metal does cost more than Rubber/plastic.) Tooth groove repair, usually incorporated with Refacing orders but can be ordered solo. (Commonly seen on: Brilhart Level Air, Dukoff silverite's, Tonalin's, Personaline's, ...and multiple hard rubber/plastic mouthpieces)

 

PLATING - $82.50 each layer (silver/gold/rose gold), assumes it is ready to plate, silver recommended before gold. Pictured below is an original vintage Otto Link "Tone Master" that was worn through the gold and silver plating into the brass core. Before gold can be plated properly, it had to get a coat of silver plating. It's a nice look just at that, too!

Terms you may have heard:  

"Overhaul"  This usually means removing every dent, buffing, re-lacquering, spring replacement and repadding.  We do not do overhauls.  We can do a restoration, which is a plating service and combine it with a total repad, re-engraving (sent out) and whatever work you desire but we do not relacquer or buff saxophones.
