If  a horns says "just rebuilt", then it's ready to go, saxes that say "scheduled for a rebuild" are waiting for the work to be done, but it will be included in the posted price.  If a sax says "ON TRIAL" someone is taking advantage of the "Three Day Trial" policy (See Info and Orders page).

Here's a beautiful early TT model ser.#37k, in excellent 97% silver plate, Goldwash bell is rather faded(40%) but ask me about replating that! Keyed to high Eb, thus no Front F key, these old guys are known for their woody tone. It's a buescher thing. If you want true vintage 20's (or earlier) tone, you have to get a buescher or conn. This sax did not have snap in pads.

1920-22 Buescher True Tone Baritone:

BuescherTTbari37k003.jpg (413756 bytes)    --Not actual photo--

(On Consignment - Plays well) Here's another early TT model ser.#96k, in excellent 93% silver plate, no Goldwash bellKeyed to high Eb, thus no Front F key, no spit value either on this era, these old saxes are known for their woody tone. It's a buescher thing. If you want true vintage 20's (or earlier) tone, you have to get a buescher or conn. This sax did not have snap in pads. This frees up the new owner to customize the resos to your liking without being concerned about damaging the original body. CURRENT PADS: are newer with plastic resos. The neck looks ok too. Some resolders on the neck joints are present, the most silver wear is on the upper U-joint. Good, hard case.

Sound File (similar sax): 1958 Selmer Mark VI, 1952 Selmer Super Balanced Action-low A (SBA), 1917 Buescher TrueTone

1922 Buescher True Tone Baritone:

BuescherTTBaritone_127k_001.jpg (953139 bytes)Here's a beautiful early TT model ser.#127k dates it to 1921-23, in excellent 93% silver plate, Goldwash bell at 80% has a pinkish hue currently.  Keyed to high F, no front F in this era, these old guys are known for their woody tone. It's a buescher thing. If you want true vintage 20's (or earlier) tone, you have to get a buescher or conn. This sax did have snap in pads! unfortunately, it looks like some are missing/have been removed during pad repairs.

The cloudy look is Clear Lacquer; on silver it seems to be a good idea until it flakes off and look like this. WE WILL STRIP OFF THE LACQUER (Included). I need to give the sax a bath (for very minor "vintage" smell) and she will play great after a Full Rebuild. Overall the sax is in excellent shape with very limited dents or dings, neck curl looks ok(a few dents to address there), will also pull the body brace dent, bottom buescher "fin" on the bow looks great too!  Left to my own decisions, I would likely rebuild it with Buescher snap pads (shellac glued) and install Pisoni seamless domes to mimic the buescher Snap resos (on the pads without snaps); but it wouldn't bother me to let the new owner customize the resonators to fit your style. New case likely!($+280)

1955 Buescher "Big B" Bari:

BigB351k002.jpg (326025 bytes)BigB351k004.jpg (513865 bytes)BigB351k006.jpg (472786 bytes)BigB351k009.jpg (374529 bytes)

Serial number 350xxx.  50+% Original Lacquer, The Big Bs are famous for a BIG warm sound with rich low notes--resonant low end the fills the room, probably due to some help from the big bell flare. Mid-range gets a little thin but the low notes make up for it. These fit very well in jazz or concert bands. Intonation is pretty good all-round, C# is non-articulated, but my biggest complainant on the model is the lack of pants-guard on the backside. Beyond that, the Big B Baritones have a cult following who seek that fat warm sound.

Sound File: "The Martin Baritone" vs Buescher Big B

BuescherBigB-bari_322k_001.jpg (1159413 bytes) 1950s Buescher "Big B" Bari: #322k, structurally sound, minus the neck that took a few knocks--they'll clean up fine. This sax is NOT original finish. It may even have some paint on it(?). I do not know. I was considering doing a 100% Finish Stripping = Bare Brass. The buescher snaps are there, it needs a new case too. I'll work on that too (that's why the price is a TBD).

CONN:

1910 Conn "Wonder Improved System" Baritone:

1910ConnBaritone.jpg (696666 bytes)  This is a cool vintage history piece in the original finish "polished brass" and the standard keywork up to Eb only and NO rolled tone holes yet in history. I don't fully recommend planning to restore this one for gig use. You may run into keywork and intonation issues; however, for history buffs like myself I like to keep these ones around to look at and imagine the Sousa Band pictures that it likely could have been in (or a similar type in Europe). ser# is 18,106, and high pitch. It arrived in the original double hinged case, plenty stinky but overall in good shape. The horn is a baritone so is had plenty of bumps but nothing too major. the worst is a key guard on Eb that got pushed into the body freeing the soldered on tonehole. Also the neck octave lineage is missing a small extension. But I love the scroll keywork on the neck! This baby is so old it never got pearls either, but for some reason it still got the side-C engineering. haha.

(on consignment--Plays Good) Ser#228k, a very nice relacquer at 95% with nickel plated keywork--not overly buffed! It was rebuilt with Conn Reso-Pads some time ago (maybe in last 10 years) but not played a ton--lots of pad life left. The neck looks like a replacement Oleg, perhaps solid (sterling?) silver tubing. Case: is a nice, wooden hardshell, similar to the original.

Looking for the "affordable Low A baritone"? This is the one we need to talk about! Serial #58xxx dates it to 1966-67, Original Lacquer at 75%. It arrived with a few newer pads and original hard case. (lighter version that the bulky things we usually have to haul. I like that.)  This sax is a near identical match the other JK Stencils, like the HA Selmer Bundy in design; add a Low A and now you'll be pleasing all these bari players. Yeah Baby! These have pretty good ergonomics for the era and most any player can make it work for any size of hands.

late 50s Martin baritone to low Bb. Serial #202k matches neck and body,  in nice relacquer at 80%. Martin bari's are known for great, big, fat tone; resonate lows and strong build. They are often the choice of many R&R players, but also Jazz players alike! They are one of the few baritones to have high-end not get all nasally and pinched off sounding--by comparison.

(I still have "AFTER" photos to post)

(on consignment--Rebuild recommended) If your mouth just froze with lust, trust that feeling. This is a very cool, very rare sax. If you can find another one of these in good working order WITH Low A, you know that you'd have to pry it out of that owner's hands too! Fortunately for you, this one doesn't need that prying. Although the lacquer is not original, it was a well done relac--possible Factory Relac. The Engraving is still very visible. Ser# 49,165. Unlike many other baritones, there are very very few dings to mention--see Eb key guard--neck curl looks excellent too!  Comes in Selmer, old, wood, hard case in solid shape with a handle strap replacement.

***WWS Custom rebuild scheduled for 3-5-14 with Tan Pads and GOLD Resotech resos.

(on consignment--Plays well, Rebuild recommended soon) original lacquer! ser# 78k! low Bb in excellent shape. I haven't seen one this beautiful listed for sale. There are a few dings and dents (minor by comparison to other bari's) on the bow and 1 on the back side, and 1 on the neck. The lacquer looks beautiful. Pads look original (old) with the metal resonators. The sax-stand holder comes with if you ask--i don't like them but they exist. The bell lip was a bit bent down from the gig bag use but not a major concern. thumb hook resoldered very well--very minor evidence.

You don't see these come up for sale very often! You know that you'd have to pry it out of that owner's hands too! Fortunately for you, this one doesn't need that prying. Ser# 00241093. Comes with BAM case (highly traveled, wheels are worn, case is solid). Don't confuse this with the fresh model 9930 that has Lacquered bow and bell. This is Solid silver on the body tubing, yet, silver plated on the bow and bell (there is a color/brilliance difference) and the wear on the bell from the player. There is one roller that can get some fixing (love) here, just ask. The Low C roller fell out and will need a replacement. This is hopefully a very easy fix. The pads are factory original (one changed) and have tons of line left. The sax was ADULT OWNED and played professionally.
