If you wish to schedule a rebuild, or purchase one of the saxes (and it still needs to be rebuilt),  send me a 50% deposit to hold your place in the work schedule.  I work from a published schedule (see left margin) so that your sax will only be out of your possession a couple weeks, while i do the actual work, it does not have to just sit on the shop floor, until its turn comes up... you send it to arrive on schedule and we return it on schedule.

  If  a horns says "just rebuilt", then it's ready to go, saxes that say "scheduled for a rebuild" are waiting for the work to be done, but it will be included in the posted price.  If a sax says "ON TRIAL" someone is taking advantage of the "Three Day Trial" policy (See Info and Orders page).

Keilwerth made The New King and Tone King  as their main brand names, from 1932 to 1969 or so, but there were always stencils, like Edgeware and later Couf.  Here are few of the other names you may find on Keilwerth made horns.  The New King and Tone King saxes were identical except for a high F# key on the tone king model, but keilwerth marketed the Tone King as the "deluxe" Pro model and the New King as the "standard" Pro model

This is original at 90-0-M (with the M off to the right, which is older style than the centered facing length markings). The Tip measures a common 0.087" for a Berg 90; plays loud, has a fat tone with a strong treble presence(loud/bright). It comes with the original ligature and cap.  A very nice player! (and I'm not a huge fan of metal, Berg altos.) I really should make a Sound File...

probably 40s-50s, made of plastic, with serial #123507. It arrived in original condition with a small blemish at the tip so I enhanced the seal from the original 0.066". I just enhanced the tip to 0.68". A warm vintage, clean tone. Think "Glenn Miller".

This is a very nice, free blowing mpc recently back from Bob Carpenter who repaired the tooth pad only--typical on these. It blows a big sound with heavy mid tones for a metal, cliff baffle. later vintage series with up and down machining on the table. This is the more desirable 5*...hard to find, original tip measures 0.081". It blows really nice and free. comes with original cap and ligature!

Brilhart Tonalin 3 alto: #180276 with script in great condition. This one plays really nice with decent focus as you would expect from a Tonalin.  Not too loud (small tip) and it helps cut out the high-tones. A good smooth Stan Getz, Louis Jordan type sound--high treble tones get cut out. Tip size at 0.066", tooth pad sticker installed. Comes with ligature. I just noticed a hairline crack at the shank; I am deciding whether to send it to Bob for banding ...perhaps with a customer order, we would be willing to Reface this one to a larger tip. (5*?)

Brilhart Tonalin 5* alto:

JUST IN... no serial #. This received a WWS Reface (medium Enhancement): Arrived modified & unable to play (rookie refacer).  Rather than try to take this mouthpiece up to a"5*" 0.076-78 tip, it is now TIP = 0.071"  SOUND: good clarity and power! EASY BLOWER! Still Round and full tone. Jump blues: like Louis Jordan. Comes with brass ligature and cap!

Brilhart Personaline L5 alto:

Personaline's are highly regarded, and are a great hard rubber alto mouthpiece. It is a 5-digit serial #60245, arrived with horizontal marks on the table still visible, also: a unique baffle!: it arrived with this medium-high baffle for about 3/8" in length!  Original Tip @ 0.063"...but perfection refacing made it to 0.064" (I can open it more, perhaps) I REFACED IT TO 0.077" PLAYS SUPER AWESOME! WOW!, no major tooth marks, it has the chamber with smaller side-walls (unique for this model). legit for traditional jazz or big band sound. 

It plays great with easy response and a VERY SMOOTH JAZZ TONE!

I left the baffle, that will boost the 'edge'/treble/ability to cut through.

Here is a great playing, highly sought after, hard rubber alto mouthpiece. Brilhart Personaline S9, Alto: This is a SUPER RARE "S9", yeah I said NINE! ...in fantastic original condition. These early Brilharts really had amazing craftsmanship.  a great mellowness to the tone, a little bite, and blows outstandingly easy! I REALLY wanted to keep this one! It reminds me of a S80-C* crossed with a Meyer 5. No ligature--one the size of a S80 fits. These are hard to find mpcs and we love them. (this one actually has a 2-3mm longer body{center of mpc} than the 0.057" listed below.)

Vintage Buescher (Rascher) Alto: (pictured on the right) Vintage hard rubber from 1920s.  No script, has faded into that vintage hard rubber. I took side-by-side photos to show the longer length of this one--Neat!  It has the original tip size @ about 0.045". It plays really nice with a Lavoz Medium, and poorly with a 2.5 reed so stick to #3 or greater.  It has a very large Chamber and that traditional 1920s stuffy tone.  no ligature, but i might be able to find one.   available as of 3-9-2015 Item#:WWS0.00.9181.2-0

 

Buescher pickle "aristocrat", hard rubber alto: tip @ 0.082" and it plays way better and with more treble than the original facings. comes with brass ligature. When I fixed the facing work, I tried to get rid of all baffle and enhance the true Buescher tone and round chamber. It plays really nice now!

Vintage rubber Conn Eagle Alto: Vintage hard rubber from 1920/30s.  Originally it was paired with a Wonder or Chu.  It has a large Chamber and I just had Bob Carpenter open it up to 0.080". Conn "Eagle" Alto (RAC): Recently back from a refacing by Bob Carpenter to a 0.081" with a 19mm facing. Bob marked his etching on the table too ("RAC")! A great hard rubber mouthpiece that will give you a warm full sound--It would have been originally paired with a Conn Chu. A large chamber on this one. Bob and I helped enhance the gold 'eagle' script.      NOTE: the original facing was "0.078" as it was inscribed. But a nick happened in the tip and BOB had to repair it. Vintage Dukoff D5 {D6} Miami, FL Alto: Metal, rock & roll Loud mouthpieces.  David Sanborn power, it blows really easy and carries that bright sound naturally. We sent this to Bob Carpenter for reclamation as it needed Bob to be saved.  It was beat up as is typical for Dukoff silverite material. Tips and rails look great now, whole mouthpiece lightly polished, and Bob Carpenter refaced it to be a now D6 size tip measurement of 0.076", baffle is that large step/slope baffle. bite plate looks good too (usually worn through. It plays really nice with a Fat Dukoff sound, not as shrill as D7, new tooth guard installed. comes with rovner ligature and plastic cap.   (considering that D7 and D8 are going for 450-650, this shouldn't last too long.) ***I just saw an ugly one go on ebay for more than this!

These versatile mouthpieces can bridge the gap between swing, trad and jazz.  It's all original, it's hard rubber but has not turned green yet. excellent vintage mouthpiece in solid shape. Markings are very hard to see but it is THE one. On arrival, the rail has the smallest little spot that Bob Carpenter cleaned up. Bob's "minimal" work looks great as always! and by "minimal", Bob is serious. He loves to leave these as original as possible. Tip measures 0.085" or a Meyer 6M size. 	Vintage Red Runyon  This is a vintage model, with serial #3310 and #4 on the table, similar to the newer "spoiler" options. Original tip @ 0.063". Two deeper scratches on the biteplate worth mentioning--maybe choose a toothpad? It comes with original ligature.  SOLD Item#WWS35.00.2121.4-0C5
	Pomarico #2 Italy GLASS alto:  tip at 0.060", made of glass, with a metal shank band, these sell for $120.00+ New. Medium chamber with side walls. Clear tooth pad to be installed (large shank for neck corks).

Vintage Riffault, R4 Alto: a great mouthpiece, Steelite Ebonite name = good, made in "France". It has a medium-small chamber and reminds me of a Selmer C* for response and focus, and I just opened it up to 0.068". It plays nice now with good response. no ligature. Ponzol "Vintage" C*, hard rubber alto: nice hard rubber design. Designed to blend the best of the Vintage & Modern tones, folks say this has [an old Otto Link or Meyer tone, without that hefty price tag.]  ...although I had to finesse the factory table and facing, this one will play great. I just enhanced it to ~ 0.069". It plays _____[let me check]___. It has a medium (like a Meyer), round chamber with rounded side walls. I expect a great blowing piece, excellent center core tone, with projection. no lig sorry.

A.Lelandais Chantecler IV, hard rubber alto: from the {GRAB BAG Row 1, #2}, Hard Rubber, in non-original facing, I had to drastically help this mouthpiece be able to play by leveling the table and refacing it myself.  I knew it would be worth saving.I refaced to 0.081”,(photos are Before reface)  Large round chamber-with custom bullet baffle! plays great! bold and focused. I want to help find a ligature for this one. It's a unique size. So I had to modify a soprano wrap with some cork inserts. (included) Consider this: a vintage hard rubber mouthpiece, refaced with 3x the time needed, knowledge & inspection, and a custom ligature. Otto Link "Master Link" model, 3 alto:

vintage early 1930s metal mouthpiece. These have a huge chamber, low baffle and a very reserved, warm tone. This is the model right before the "4****" model. They are not loud players...at least in original setup. This one currently has the near original 3 tip at 0.059" (closer to 4* size). These are some of the warmest mouthpieces I have played. definitely need a mic to be heard in a group. Not every metal mouthpiece = loud. with an Otto Link ligature!(probably a 4**** lig), SUPER RARE!

Otto Link "Master Link" model, 3<5* alto:

vintage early 1930s metal mouthpiece WITH SLIDE-ON LIGATURE. These have a huge chamber, low baffle and a very reserved, warm tone. This is the model right before the "4****" model. They are not loud players...at least in original setup. This one has a refaced tip @ 0.071"! (I can't verify, but I think I know which Pro Refacer did the work). These are some of the warmest mouthpieces I have played. definitely need a mic to be heard in a group. Not every metal mouthpiece = loud. SUPER RARE ligature!

Otto Link "Tone Master" model, 3* <6 alto:

vintage 1930/40s metal mouthpiece. It has the [9*] on the shank, a second series Tone Master with 3-digit ser# A82, These have a huge chamber, low baffle and a THAT classic Link tone. This is the model right after the "4****" model. They are credited for being bigger players than the previous era...at least in original setup. A few big players on this model: (TENOR) Ben Webster, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, and (ALTO) Benny Carter. Point on history with these is the top ridge was first added here to help center the ligatures and the reed plates were thinner (a good thing for sound). It is possible that this ligature is from the era right after (this one missing the words on the screw). This one arrived with the original tip at 3* (0.059") so I refaced it and made it very free blowing and open more, or about a Link 6 @ 0.074" now. The finish was a bit patchy with lots of brass and silver exposed so I opted to seal it up with new silver and gold plating ($160) after the reface. Comes with ligature and vintage Otto Link cap. Clear tooth pad to be installed.

Otto Link "Tone Master", 4*... alto (NOW GOLD PLATED):

vintage 1930/40s metal mouthpiece. It has the [9*] on the shank, a second series Tone Master with 3-digit ser#M37, These have a huge chamber, low baffle and a THAT classic Link tone. This is the model right after the "4****" model. They are credited for being bigger players than the previous era...at least in original setup. A few big players on this model: (TENOR) Ben Webster, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, and (ALTO) Benny Carter.  This one arrived with a poorly refaced & damaged tip at 0.055" so I had to reface it and make it very free blowing and open more. The plating is So I saved it! now tip @ 0.068" (maximum tip size for this piece) and it plays really nice a smoky!, a quieter option for volume but very sweet in tone. I thought it was only going to get to 0.064, so I'm super happy that it got at least to a 0.068". currently no ligature, sorry. 

I even just silver plated the whole mouthpiece to seal my refacing. then I put 24k GOLD plating over (added$35) for a customer. (IT IS GOLD NOW)

(maximum tip size for this piece) (I can't verify, but I think I know which Pro Refacer did the work).  And it plays really nice a smoky!, a quieter option for volume but very sweet in tone. currently no ligature, sorry. It is 100% worn so that brass is all you see.

vintage Otto Link "Super Tone Master" 5* ALTO: Another great mouthpiece from the late 70s!I believe this is the Transitional model--Large Font on the "5*", with USA.  It arrived with Original tip measures 0.068"...There were some metal bubbles forming on the table. So I opted to "enhance-reface" it and inspect the tip--I improved the tip seal too($+80). You can still see the Denim! THEN, new 24k GOLD plated the whole mouthpiece ($+70). You can see the original marks on the table and tip! ASK ME ABOUT A LIGATURE, it arrived with the one the owner bought with it, but it fits a tenor (?). I think we can work out a deal with this lig or another swap idea. But I have the lig and cap set to go with this one. available as of 3-9-2015 Item#: WWS165.00.2111.4-C40

Good for legit, concert band, or orchestra work. black and clean with the script faded/scratched, minor scratches on tooth zone. comes with ligature. Selmer, Elkhart-New York 3, hard rubber alto, "RAC": vintage Selmer, marked "3"-RARE TOP MARKING, with links to Zimberoff stencil line of mouthpieces (aka = awesome!)...refaced by Bob Carpenter (RAC) to 0.080", also new gold script to pop. It has a medium-large, round chamber with rounded side walls. A great blowing piece! excellent center core tone with projection. My last one was an AWESOME player! reminded me of a Meyer/Link tone, but better (good price!). no lig sorry. A scratch groove on the body.

It has a medium-large, round chamber with rounded side walls. Selmer Paris "Table C*" short shank Alto:

  This is a hard to find original scroll mouthpiece in very nice condition!--several models ahead of the "Soloist" line and these have a Large Chamber. Tip measures 0.064" and it's made of Hard Rubber from the 30s/40s...at least prior to the 50s...so paired with Selmer S.A. or S.B.A. models, it's in pretty nice condition.  There is a minor ding in the table opening but it won't hinder playability (also small mark at the tip barely worth mentioning).  I played it side by side to my modern s80 C* and these are much more reserved without edge--a very vintage, tubby sound and a good fit for orchestral work.
