I am a lover of Bergs... this particular Berg has most of the script and numbers worn of/illegible. However I could make out the "9", a sliver of what looks like a "2" for row two, and the edge of an offset "M". The facing measurements and curved machine marks told me be the rest. On arrival: the tip measured a correctly at 0.085" with the 25mm facing length(Correct). The tip seal was not even and needed some work to enhance the response and repair the final curve; however, it played great on arrival. This mouthpiece was in the collection from a pro player who played on early tv shows!
WWS Refacing work was focused on the tip and final 15% of the tip rail and facing curve; also 5% on table levelness. Now measures 0.088" at the tip. The smaller tip keeps the price under $400; + refacing work is a bonus!
Plays Easy!
Original curved machine marks are visible on the table; add in the offset stamp(curved machine marks) and this is from the early vintage era dating. As well and ligature style, and cap style. CAP: there is a hairline crack in the tip edge of the cap, fyi.
It plays warm, easy, and it responded well for my Java 2.5 reeds for the response that I prefer; yet I think it would love the power from a 2.75-3.5 reed also. It comes with a vintage ligature.
