Professionally owned buy two pros - aka: handpicked by picky sax players. Lacquer 65%; it also has high F#. No Serial # on the neck (common in the early #10x,xxx range). No major damage to report - Opt.F# guard resolders, and perhaps an old resolder to the high E3 upper post. There are 2 pearls that were changed/updated from wear: A & F. Other sax history: It was rebuilt in 2003 and had regular adjustments, then the sax did a small amount of playing from 2008-2015, some palm key pads changed in 2016, and then some recent repair work ($$$) Jan. 2018 for cleaning and necessities.

I know the owner well and the price is rather set due to the specific exquisiteness you get from a hand-selected Mark VI (#55k-110k). As he was sold the sax from another pro player at "original" finish; I inspected the sax closely to verify that it is such. The wear and faint engravings did cause me to look hard and I am looking closely at the finish to state my findings.  The finish is in the era of varying colors, and the typical Selmer-delicate engraving depth.

SOUND: I can't understate this category: The tone on this sax is particularly rich. This sax has a great resemblance in sound to the early 5-digit selmers. NOTE: rumor has it that the great craftsmen of the late 50s were still working on the Mark VIs through about #110xxx. This means that you can have that 5-digit tone in a sax like this and save $1000-4000 off that early-era pricing.

CASE: Vintage Selmer, orange, tri-pack case (no inserts) in good working order but cosmetically showing age. The latches and springs all work.

CAVEAT: Among many of the Selmers that have been play tested here in the shop, many very good players have all raised their eyebrows when playing this sax. (see my notes about about the #100-110k saxes). Myself included, I can tell you there there is that "It Factor" to this saxophone's tone. It is made for the player to enjoy and record music with.
