Here he have a 40+ year closet find! This is a one-owner horn that was used in high school and then not much since. The last major pad work done in the 1980s.

This is the much sought after mid-serial number range for Mark VI altos, from the end of the the run of the David Sanborn inspired players and beyond! Legends like Sanborn and Kenny Garrett played on this serial number range. There is just a known sparkle on the serial number range of 140k-145k Altos.

INSPECTION REPORT & REPAIR HISTORY - "Over critiquing": Probably 4 main zones to list by WWS inspections and the rest of the mild pings and dings seem normal for the decades-old horn:

1. The biggest repair mark is that the lower Eb/C post took some denting into the body. Yet, this repair was able to pull back out and leave dent scars without the need of a resolder.

   

   

   

   
   
2. There are also some backside dings that got to the back U tube (chair dings), some of which I gave minor attention too before photos.

   

   

   

   

   

   
   
3. There is also the faintest bell lip crease but some people might not even see it.

PADS: The pads look original to me (!), yet a over-selling listing might call these "good" since they really didn't get overplayed, however noting the age and sitting period, they qualify as "old pads" that should really get replaced if this was a daily player.

CASE: vintage Selmer tri-pack case, with working zippers(missing zipper Pulls--all too normal), and all but one bumper is intact! + No vintage smells!

TONE: Everything you'd expect from a Mark VI that plays well... clean, smooth, "vintage smoke" blended with warmth & power from this era.
