An early Yamaha pro sax with rich tone and fast ergos. This consignment listing comes with original Yamaha case! The sax is in ok condition showing the decades of loving playing time and no major abuse to mention. This is a great sax for your budget upgrades; first, pro sax; or backup -- all options contain potential use for this sax.
The "A" in the serial number is a positive note. This means it was assembled in the US Michigan factory; it was a highly regarded place for quality.
CASE: yes - it the original Yamaha hard case in good working order.
PADS: Currently plays "rather good!", to quote an in-shop client test. Tan with plastic resos, medium-aged, from three eras of pads. There may be some recommended maintenance to be discussed with the new owner. ESTIMATE: consider repairs 1-3x pads @ $145~, or 3-7x @ $350~. The pads are in the [many variables] report to balance my expertise, what plays with ease now, but may have repairs looming; however, saxophones play through a lot worse.
