1963 Selmer Mark VI Tenor

#108k, player/collector's delight, ORIGINAL lacquer 85%! Will need a full rebuild to be fully enjoyable, however, I will tune it up so that you can play test it on the old pads. There are signs of past dent work in the bell and bow, one noticeable dent on the front bow guard, evidence of minor pull-down that was repaired well. You will notice that the tube-to-bow ring had solder work in the past. There is no serial number on the neck. All in all, you may enjoy the sax for a while on the pads with minor tune ups, but a true player will be wise to invest in a full rebuild to enjoy the sax for many years. SOUND: I can't understate this category: The tone on this sax is particularly rich. This sax has a great resemblance in sound to the early 5-digit selmers. NOTE: rumor has it that the great craftsmen of the late 50s were still working on the Mark VIs through about #110xxx. This means that you can have that 5-digit tone in a sax like this and save $1000-4000 off that early-era pricing.

CASE: Used protec case(blue) in nice shape.

NOTES: Price reduction prompted to reflect an area of reference and the owner's request. 1)  the missing pants guard has been replaced here by a later Selmer one. It was aged as bare brass. (oh, and the deep yellow on the backside of the bell is only a patina on bare brass.)

CAVEAT: Among many of the Selmers that have been play tested here in the shop, many very good players have all raised their eyebrows when playing this sax. (see my notes about about the #100-110k saxes). Myself included, I can tell you there there is that "It Factor" to this saxophone's tone. It is made for the player to enjoy and record music with.
