This will be a great sax for a beginner and can do pep/marching or whatever. They really are a quality build that can meet your needs. It has high F# too. I believe this model is the next newest model after the AS500 or AS700 (Prelude) models. It feels near identical to the AS500. There is a newer version of this model that has a few engineering changes, and the local Ted Brown music store is asking $2,100 for it New.
