SML [Gold Medal] Alto Sax
- Year: 1963-4
- Make: SML
- Model: Gold Medal I, Pichard
- Status: SOLD
- Finish: Original Lacquer
- Serial Number: 18,5xx
#18k would put it at 1964 by SML charts, Finish: original lacquer body & nickel plated keys with some normal nickel wear, with the beautiful floral Gold Medal design in engraving and key guards, and rolled tone holes that date this horn to that lineage.
This sax has no negatives with the stencil name as this is the second "Pichard" that I've worked with and compared them to my personal SML Rev D. I also had respectable players in the shop verify these saxes play like "a good one" with excellent ring to the tone.
It has all the SML traits you love: rolled tone holes, adjustment screws, optional G# articulator...
CASE: yes...hard case. We can look into a nice Protec also.
***Bias note: I play on an SML Rev D alto.
