Conn 1936 ’26M’ Eb Alto, #275,xxx (Archived)

SOLD! - An excellent, original lacquer example of a highly sought after sax. Serial #275k puts it right at 1936. This This horn was actually sold prior to arrival here because it was Scouted for a customer (a service that we offer). We located the sax from a client/collector in Mexico and helped the searching client in Texas, USA acquire it. During the matchmaking, I was the mid-point for inspection and verification. Here was my picky review upon getting the sax:
I just finished a few playing passages on the 26M. It is a sweet sweet tone. It is not huge in tone, but a mellow singer. (this on my Woodwind Co., large chamber mouthpiece tip at 0.075") VERY PICKY INSPECTION:
-minor dings to the neck
-evidence of dent work on the bow(by C# pad).
-neckstrap ring repairs 1) the base was resoldered.
-neckstrap ring repairs 2) the loop has added metal from wear.
-/+ repairs to dented thumbhook. excellent repairs of dents, and any resolders.
+very clean pearls
+good repair work on the last repad. It was loved by the owner (he did the work).
+ZERO missing set-screws. Awesome!
+upgraded replacement case. (wood)
+no evidence of past swedging work
+++ a beautiful horn.
Pads = a modern tan pad, with slight-domed resos and rivet (like a modern Selmer, Jupiter...)
It was very enjoyable to play!

Selmer 2000s ‘La Voix II’ Eb Alto, Silver Plate, #9,024k (Archived)

$SOLD - Ser# 9,024,xxx. Intermediate Selmer from the recent years. Rare Silver plate in 97% condition. Model SAS-280RS. It arrived we'll played, yet still playing very strong. I was very impressed with the action and feel and I would say that this could keep up with some pro saxes! 1) it's a "selmer", with all the ergos and tone you're after. I would label the tone as "bold, focused, slightly brighter than Vintage tone, yet, very responsive and firm". The bell is "traditional-sized bell" for the clean, focused sound. (I found the bell curve to be very interesting--flares to the right). Comes with the original Selmer hard case/backpack-type with the "la voix" on it.
---We just finished a full disassembly, silver dip cleaning, chemical cleaning, and replaced the main palm key pads and Eb for longevity and easy maintenance! All shined up and helped her sing the doors down!
Cosmetic Rating: 9.0
This sax is a super cool sax! I actually really like the tone. It must be reminiscent of my ol' Series II selmer.

$219.00 - Plays awesome! - vintage Selmer, marked "3"-RARE TOP MARKING, with links to Zimberoff stencil line of mouthpieces (aka = awesome!)...refaced by Bob Carpenter (RAC) to 0.080", also new gold script to pop. It has a medium-large, round chamber with rounded side walls. A great blowing piece! excellent center core tone with projection. My last one was an AWESOME player! reminded me of a Meyer/Link tone, but better (good price!). no lig sorry. A scratch groove on the body.

Other: ‘A. Lelandais Chantecler IV Custom’ Alto, (WWS reface) – 0.081″

$179.00 - Hard Rubber, in non-original facing, I had to drastically help this mouthpiece be able to play by leveling the table and refacing it myself. I knew it would be worth saving. I refaced to 0.081”,(photos are Before reface) Large round chamber-with custom bullet baffle! plays great! bold and focused. I want to help find a ligature for this one. It's a unique size. So I had to modify a soprano wrap with some cork inserts. (included)
Consider this: a vintage hard rubber mouthpiece, refaced with 3x the time needed, knowledge & inspection, and a sized ligature, ONE-OF-A-KIND MOUTHPIECE...
***AMAZINGLY FREE BLOWING, RAW POWER (bright tones) and there's only one out there!
