Yamaha ‘YSS-L1’ Soprano, 1970s – 0.045″
$169.00 - A rare Yamaha soprano mouthpiece made of hard rubber or blended composite (it definitely has some rubber). Straight baffle, straight side walls into a very small round chamber. This one is in great condition and also has a thin front tip rail --that's a good thing and not all had that.
This mouthpiece is to a Yamaha 61 (purple logo) what the Selmer S-80 became to Selmer. It was paired with the pro Yamahas.
With original, grooved ligature! (and a Selmer cap. PS-I will clean the green on the cap up for you.)
Buffet 1940s ‘SA 18-20’ Bb Soprano, Silver #2,889 (Archived)
SOLD - Buffet soprano (rare), in silver!(RARE), keyed to high F; also with SOLDERED ON TONEHOLES! (like a King or Martin) Once you geek-out on sax specifics, some players prefer and require soldered toneholes for the sound they seek.
Original case in good shape. Pads, the owner says, were invested in not long ago. There was a high level of PC work done prior to the sax arriving, consider the pads 'playing great on older pads' . It's worth mentioning that the lyre holder is removed (post solder evidence on the backside--good thing you don't want that anyway!) Notice the modern keywork!: Articulated G#+B, palm key design (not In-line)!
I must say that the uniqueness of this sax is the huge factor to this one. I was testing several mouthpieces (along with client--Doctorate in Sax) to see if this was perhaps a sax that he was searching for. Short Conclusion: After many mouthpieces, we conclude that the original mouthpiece (not present) must be crucial for the best optimum intonation. Overall it's a playable sax, where the biggest intonation issue was over the break (C2 to D2). The sax will need a vintage mouthpiece for best performance.
I have only seen one other similar sax for sale; it wasn't silver, nor was it labeled with the main parent company names as a flag-bearer.
Conn 1921 ‘New Wonder I’ Bb Soprano, Curved, Silver #76,xxx(Archived)
SOLD - (On consignment -- Plays mild-ok on old pads) #76k, Keyed to F!, Finish: Original Silver. There are only a few curved sopranos we can recommend. This is one! Having the high-F key and it being is great shape overall make this one to watch, or scoop up. No major damage to report and the sax is in great shape cosmetically.
Comes with original case is good shape (mild vintage smell); currently no handle, but ask be if I have a replacement to add to the this package.

SOLD - Made of hard rubber, it maintains a nice warmth. It arrived with a tiny 0.052 tip so I opened it up to 0.067". It responds very nice with a 2.5 reed and has strong presence and focus. I would call this a 'short shank' style; it also has a noticeable tight, smaller shank to fit on your neck cork(12.85mm vs. a modern C* 13.55mm). Medium round chamber. sorry, no ligature included. a rovner soprano will work great.

King ‘Saxello’ Soprano, 1920s (RAC reface) – 0.063″ (Archived)
Sold - Hard rubber, --large round chamber mpc. It arrived with tiny factory tip. We had Bob Carpenter reface the tip to: Tip measures 0.063". Don't forget the tighter shank from the original settings. Now has good seal and plays great. Original silver plated King ligature too!

Selmer ‘S80 – D’ Soprano, modern – 0.052″
99.00 - Hard rubber, focused sound, easy response. It's a bit aged (green) but in good condition. Legit for concert band but able to cross genres too--square chamber mpcs. It arrived with factory 0.050 (incorrect for "D")...Tip will measure ~0.052" after I clean up the seal. It will play great. Sorry no lig or cap...yet.
