SOLD - silver Conn 10M, silver bell interior - A great era 10M seeking your love. This sax is in very good condition.
REBUILD/PADS: This sax was rebuilt by WWS in 2012 and played by a growing musician. The setup was given our "Vintage Standard" to maintain the classic Conn sound. Also the bell interior was cleaned up and freshly silver plated at that time for the owner. The sax has a lot of life left in the pads and we can discuss that in further detail for your needs. We will look over the sax and it will leave WWS "playing excellent" for many more gigs.
CASE: original, vintage Conn case in Good/ok shape (totally functional and usable).
Martin 1959 ‘The Martin Magna’ Bb Tenor, #208,3xx (Archived)
SOLD - Choose your rebuild! Original Lacquer even with the end plug. These are rare Pro horns, big ol' fat sound, unlike any other... With the right pad and reso setup in them, these can be the worlds best Bebop' tenors. The sound of the Magna is not much different than any other Committees, but they have a few mechanical changes.
Martin 1939 ‘Committee II- Lion & Crown’ Eb Alto, #135,58x (Archived)
SOLD - Here's another longtime favorite: Martin Comm II. It's in really good shape! These have a very strong build, known for good intonation, sweet-fat tones and all american Jazz core tone. The "Lion & Crown" engraving is crisp and beautiful, and you can see lots of the original lacquer over the nickel keys (common and expected)
Conn 1953 ‘6M’ Eb Alto, #356,2xx (Archived)
SOLD - A very pretty, clean 6M - Artist - "Naked Lady" Conn alto sax. One of the first Conn 6Ms without the microtuner in the neck (a good thing IMHO). Serial #356k, G# trill key and underslung octave. It has nicer pads that look like very low playing time.
Buescher 1946 ‘Aristocrat II – Big B’ Eb Alto, #313k (Archived)
SOLD - Here's the warmth and power combined! Original finish with a beautiful dark look. It will need rebuilt to enjoy but these are some of the best. The neck is the desired # "01". ALL Snaps present, #01 neck, and limited dings with a unique dull/aging finish
Buffet 1974 ‘S-1’ Bb Tenor, SDA Transitional #22,3xx (Archived)
SOLD - A rare Buffet S-1 transitional with "Super Dynaction" on the body, and no [S-1] label on the bell. But make no mistake, it has all the S-1 components minus the high F#. The S-1 is actually quite brighter and bolder than the previous SDAs; so they're a cross between the Buffet SDA & a King Super 20 but lean towards the French sound.
Keilwerth 1949 ‘[New King] – “Silvertone”‘ Bb Tenor #21k (Archived)
SOLD - Vintage JK tone that is smokey and fills the room. It has rolled tone holes and the "JK Best in the World" stamp on the rear tube. It is mostly in the bare brass body from the lacquer falling off, and the nickel plated keywork is in great shape and strong as expected. There was no high F# on this model, like the next model Tone King. The former lucite pants guard was replaced with a metal guard.
King 1948 ‘Zephyr’ Eb Alto, Series III, #299k (Archived)
SOLD - One of the realm gems of the sax world, this era of Zephyr is near identical to the Super 20 for half the cost! Deep, dark original lacquer finish at 85%, triple neckstrap ring, rounded keywork, all indicative of the series iii model. Matching neck and tweed case, gotta love that.
